Showers"A Man called by God" The word of God says in Psalms 140:30 when you send your spirit; they are created, and renew the face of the earth. Jerel Showers believes that in every move, every turn, in every word, and every dance that it must be by HIS spirit and nothing else in the ministry of dance. A dance is simple just a dance until “self’ is removed and God takes the lead. Recognizing that we live in world that is overcome with problems, issues of life, and a dying world of sin, Jerel utilizes creativity given by the utmost creator to compel a message through the manifestation of God’s spirit that is able to touch every situation that represented while ministering. Minister Jerel Showers acknowledges that he is a tool God has chosen to use to “lift him up” and in return He “draws all men unto himself”. Born and raised in the State of Mississippi, Jerel was reared in the church and accepted Christ at an early age. It was at the age 13 he acknowledged his God given gift. Jerel was Instrumental in organizing, directing, managing, and instructing numerous of Step, Drill, Praise Dance and MIME ministries throughout the state and by the age of 16 he formed The Southern States Church of God Youth Convention first Praise Dance Ministries. The ministry started with twenty members and reached over fifty by the second year. In 1994, God ordered his steps in direction of instructing and teaching at workshops, seminars, and conferences in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee and Florida. In 2000 Bro Jerel Showers completed his military duties and moved to San Antonio, Texas where he became member of the True Vision Baptist Church. Month’s later leadership of the Praise Dance Ministry was passed on to Bro. Showers, in whom God gave a great vision. That year marked the beginning of True Vision Praise Dance Ministries. The youth praise dance team, who are now called True Motion, excelled to new heights of praise dance including their signature style, of Radical Praise or Hip-Hop. In December 2001, God added an adult praise dance to the ministry, called True Praise. These adults stepped out and proved that God chooses and uses as he pleases. Under his direction the ministry has grown and certainly their cup overflows. December 2003 God added again, a new children dance ministry, who are known as True Angels for ages 4 to 7 and Angels in Motions for ages 8 to 12. God continue to embrace the ministry vision by adding a MIME ministry called TRU SOULjas in January 2005. Minister Showers incorporated both bible study and fellowship gatherings to keep the team bonded and united in God’s Word. Being in Texas now over 5 years, Minister Jerel Showers has been instrumental in hosting powerful spirit-filled workshops, instructing dance technique classes, coordinating numerous styles of dance, assisting new ministries, embracing statewide fellowships, and participating in countless seminars, retreats, workshops and conferences throughout Texas and surrounding states. God has truly blessed and enlarged territories in all his endeavors. "A RADICAL GENERATION CALLED TO DO GOD’S WILL IN EVERY WAY"   'But ye are a chosen generation , a royal priesthood, an holy nation a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.' I Peter 2:9 Acts of Praise was founded in 1995 through a vision that God placed into his vessel Tina M. Giles. Acts of Praise is a group of young people from various church coming together to spread the word of God through dance, drama, signing, and other talents that God has bestowed upon them. The Group consist of; "RADCIAL GENERATION" (younger generation), "A SERMON IN MOTION", and the "AOP DRAMA MINISTRY." Acts of Praise minister at different workshops, conferences, youth explosions, concerts and other church functions. They travel through out the United States spreading the Word of God to others. Truly they have been called by GOD to worship and praise Him with their bodies as well as their spirit and mind. "But the hour cometh and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the father in spirit and in truth." John 4:23-24 Their Vision is to reach out into the world of the younger generation and touch lives through their ministry. By letting them know that there is a better way in life rather than doing drugs, club hopping or just becoming a victim of today’s society. Not only are they reaching out to the younger generation but also to the saved and the unsaved. "Encouraging all to draw closer to God." They are going out into the world winning souls to Christ by offering and encouraging them to accept Christ into their lives. "Let him know, that he which converted the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall hide a multitude of sins." James 5:20 AOP have a message for everyone that is depressed and stressed, those that are hurting physically, spiritually, and mentally, those that are spiritually blind, the poor and the wealthy, the happy as well as the sad. God has called us to minister to the needs of those people as well as ourselves and each other sending the message that "Our God is an Awesome God and He can do anything but fail!" |
